On Friday 15 February I had a crack at 30 minutes of Interval Training.
What is Interval Training you may ask?
According to wiki
“Interval training is a type of discontinuous physical training that involves a series of low- to high-intensity exercise workouts interspersed with rest or relief periods.[1] The high-intensity periods are typically at or close to anaerobic exercise, while the recovery periods may involve either complete rest or activity of lower intensity”.
My routine consisted of 100 metres of sprinting with 100 metres of walking. Near the end of the sprinting period a short hill climb was also included. Several sets were completed over the 30 minute period.
Noticeable effects:
* Raised heatbeat
* It did not take long to work up a sweat
* I was a little stiff the following day
The intention is to incorporate Interval Training on a regular once a week basis as part of my overall training program.
